Ready. Relevant. These are the watchwords AAPAN leadership has embraced as it retools the association for its next era. And they are the theme for the 2017 AAPAN Annual Forum in Tucson, Arizona.
Ready because market dynamics, mergers, cost shifting, patient demand for access and transparency, value-based care, growing trends in bedless hospitals and virtual care settings, escalating drug prices, cyber security and big data-driven treatment are coming at every member. Like a tidal wave. And fast.
Relevant because none of this change – good or bad – should occur without health plans, networks, administrators and care management organizations in both group health and workers’ compensation having a key role. Too much is at stake.
The 2017 AAPAN Annual Forum will present the strategies created by membership and leadership during 2016 for achieving these twin goals in 2017 and beyond. Tailored roundtables and tracks will detail how group health, workers’ compensation and specialty health professionals can support those aims to make our collective voice louder, reach broader. In addition, you will hear from experts about state legislative trends to watch and how the new administration will shape healthcare policy at the federal level.
As AAPAN enters a new era of advocacy, it will dip into its past for some recreational activities that guarantee attendees can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Pack your clubs; the golf scramble held for many years returns. And pack your walking shoes for a guided hike through the nearby hills. Combined with ample indoor networking opportunities, you’ll have plenty of time to collaborate and socialize with your colleagues.
I look forward to beginning AAPAN’s new era of success with you in the desert southwest. See you in Tucson!
